Matt Marion, Senior Developer for Ross Video’s Rocket Surgery Creative Services Team, recently hosted a live webinar session focused on how the DashBoard facility control system can be used for event applications. The session, entitled “Take Control of Your Event Space” explored a real-world example of how DashBoard adds functionality and simplifies users’ workflows.

Over the course of the hour-long session, Marion gave a full demonstration of how DashBoard can be used to control a real-life event space. To showcase the capabilities that DashBoard offers, Marion set up an example space in his basement complete with LED lights, a miniature projector screen, cameras, and more.

Using the customization options offered by DashBoard, Marion created a custom control interface that allowed him to operate all his devices as if they were part of a real event space. He explained that the same interface he created could be used by operators running full-sized events to control additional devices like projectors, LED walls, monitors, and more. Any device that communicates using protocols that DashBoard understands, such as TCP/IP, UDP, or openGear, can be controlled.

To round out the session, Marion also demonstrated DashBoard’s various control options, showcased how it can be used for remote productions, and explained how to easily make changes to its custom interfaces.
