What's New with Production Switchers

Last month, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) hosted NAB Show Premiere, an online series of live and pre-recorded presentations from a variety of vendors within the live production industry. The sessions included product announcements as well as curated sessions on content creation, streaming, broadcast technology and radio amongst other topics.

One of those sessions featured our very own Les O’Reilly, Product Manager for Production Switchers. He provided an update on what’s new with the product line, including the recent introduction of Ultrix Acuity and updates to Acuity, Graphite, Carbonite Black and TouchDrive. In case you missed his session, here are some of the highlights.

Ultrix Acuity – Greater than the Sum of its Parts

Launched in February, Ultrix Acuity is a revolutionary hyper-converged production platform that merges the power of our flagship production switcher with the game-changing feature set of our flexible hybrid routing platform. In a nutshell, Ultrix Acuity replaces racks of standalone equipment, such as a video switcher, facility router, audio processors, mixers, embedders, de-embedders, and multiviewers with a single 5RU frame and 2RU power chassis.

Acuity v9.2 – Custom Control with Logic

Available for download today, Acuity v9.2 adds built-in logic capability to its Custom Control macro system. This innovative feature promises to revolutionize the way that Technical Directors build their shows.

Graphite v5.1

Our all-in-one production system recently got an upgrade and now includes a host of DashBoard integration updates and TouchDrive control panel support. Graphite v5.1 builds on these integrations and adds a number of new audio features, including Noise Gating and Output EQ, as well as the latest version of our graphics platform – XPression v10.

Carbonite v15

Like Graphite, Carbonite v15 now includes DashBoard updates as well as support for TouchDrive control panels. Users of legacy equipment, such as Carbonite, Carbonite+, Carbonite MultiMedia and Carbonite Extreme, will be happy to learn that TouchDrive is also now compatible with all of these switchers as well.

TouchDrive v1.2

Speaking of TouchDrive, our brand-new touch-enabled control panels, with high-res LCD displays have already received an update as v1.2 includes quicker start-up times and enhanced touch response to ensure even more accuracy for Technical Directors.

Introducing Ultrix Carbonite

Last but not least, during Episode 1 of Ross Live 2021 earlier this week, we announced the introduction of Ultrix Carbonite. Marking the next step in hyper-converged production, Ultrix Carbonite combines the routing and processing capabilities of Ultrix with the sophisticated effects repertoire of Carbonite, the world’s most popular mid-size production switcher.
